A challenge for libraries, traditional open public spaces, is to bring knowledge of open gov and open data to our users

Interesting that you brought up libraries – as an archivist and a librarian, I wondered during the breakout session on community engagement why governments weren’t using their public libraries to engage. Librarians are experts at engaging the community — and librarians are generally trusted more than the communications group for any given level of government. Librarians are also leaders when it comes to experimenting with social media, which gives them a direct connection to developers who might be able to elucidate their data wish lists better to someone they feel already speaks their language.
